Bicycling from: Harvard Campus

Driving in from the West:
Take the Mass. Pike (Route 90 East) to the Brighton-Cambridge exit (exit 18). This is a "left-side exit." At the tolls, bear right following signs for "Cambridge, Somerville." Pass the Guest Quarters Suites Hotel on your right. Go over the bridge and take a right (in front of the Mobil Gas Station), onto Memorial Drive. Follow Memorial Drive approximately two miles, passing the Hyatt Regency Hotel on your left, always keeping the Charles River on your right. Make sure you go under the underpass and immediately get into the right lane. Continue on Memorial Drive (South 3) and go under the Longfellow bridge, where Memorial Drive becomes Edwin H. Land Boulevard (formerly Commercial Avenue). Take a right at the first driveway, which is the Rowland Institute.

Driving in from Route 2:
Bear right at the end of the highway following signs Route 2 and 3. Alewife "T" Station will be on your right. This is Fresh Pond Parkway. Stay on this road through 3-4 sets of lights. At the major intersection, take a left following signs for "Memorial Drive." Follow Memorial Drive approximately two miles, passing the Hyatt Regency Hotel on your left, always keeping the Charles River on your right. Make sure you go under the underpass and immediately get into the right lane. Continue on Memorial Drive (South 3) and go under the Longfellow bridge, where Memorial Drive becomes Edwin H. Land Boulevard (formerly Commercial Avenue). Take a right at the first driveway, which is the Rowland Institute.

Driving in from the North:
Take Route 93 South into Boston. Take the Storrow Drive / North Station exit (exit 26). Go down the ramp. Stay to the right following the sign to North Station. You will come to a set of lights. Take a left to Cambridge/Somerville. Go under the bridge ("Museum of Science 200 yards") and take a right onto Monseigneur O'Brien Highway (Route 28). Get directly into the left lane. Pass the Museum of Science on your left. At the first set of lights, take a left onto Edwin H. Land Boulevard (formerly Commercial Avenue). Stay in the left lane. On the left-hand side of the street, you will pass: the Hotel Sonesta, Lotus Development, a small park, and an apartment (condominiums) building. The next building is the Rowland Institute. Take a left at the turnaround in front of the Rowland Institute (turnaround sign). Immediately get into the right lane. Take your right at the garage door (the first driveway).

Driving from the Airport:
Take the Airport road bearing to the left following signs for Sumner Tunnel, Boston, Route 93. Go through the tunnel and take a right onto Route 93. Go through the tunnel and take a right onto Route 93 North to the Storrow Drive / North Station exit (exit 26). Go down the ramp. Stay to the right following the sign to North Station. You will come to a set of lights. Take a left to Cambridge/Somerville. Go under the bridge ("Museum of Science 200 yards") and take a right onto Monseigneur O'Brien Highway (Route 28). Driving from Harvard Campus:
Follow Broadway east, past Cambridge Public Library, across Inman, Prospect, Columbia and Windsor streets. Pass Hampshire St (on your left) and Draper Lab(on your right). Cross the railroad tracks and take a left on Galileo Galilei Way, which merges into Binney St. Follow Binney St. and take a right on First St. at the second set of lights. Where First St merges with Land Blvd south, move into the left lane to make a U-turn left onto Land Blvd. heading north. Rowland Institute is directly on your right at #100. Take your right at the garage door. (the first driveway)

Alternative:
From Harvard Sq., take JFK St. across the river and take a left on Storrow Drive, heading towards Boston. Follow Storrow Drive to the Govt. Ctr./Cambridge St. exit. Get in left lane. Take a left turn under the bridge. left onto Cambridge St, and go straight across the Longfellow Bridge. At the end of the bridge, take a right (sign for Route 3, Memorial Drive). Go right at the stop sign, get in left lane, go under the bridge and make a U-turn which will take you left onto Memorial Drive. Under the bridge, Mem. Dr. becomes Land Blvd. Look for Rowland Institute at #100 on your right. Turn into the driveway.

Walking from the Kendall T- Stop:
Exit through the turnstile onto Main Street. With the Marriott hotel on your left, walk east on Main Street, staying on the left side of the street. Cross at the traffic light (Third Street) and turn right. Walk straight along Main Street for 2 long blocks. At the Longfellow Bridge follow the sidewalk to the left, crossing the Broad Canal. Cross Memorial Drive, walking towards the grove of trees to the other side of Memorial Drive. Cross Memorial Drive and turn left. The Institute is on your right. Walk the length of the Institute until you reach the garage entrance.

Walking from the Charles/MGH T-Stop:
Turn right after walking through the turnstile in the Charles/MGH T-Stop. Walk through the elevated walkway, and turn left at the bottom of the stairs. Cross the street, walking straight towards the Longfellow Bridge. While you cross the bridge, the Institute is visible to the right. It is the first dark brick building next to the bridge. Walk down the first staircase on the right at the end of the bridge. Walk straight along Memorial Drive, crossing the Broad Canal, towards the grove of trees. Turn right, walking through the trees, to the other side of Memorial Drive. Cross Memorial Drive and turn left. The Institute is on your right. Walk the length of the Institute until you reach the garage entrance.

Walking from the Lechmere T-Stop:
Exit the turnstile and turn right. Turn right again at the tunnel that goes underneath the train tracks. Turn right and walk to the traffic light. Cross at the light, and continue straight down First Street. You will pass the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall on your left. Continue walking straight until the intersection with Linskey Way. Turn left at Linskey Way. Walk straight at the traffic light with Edwin Land Blvd. Turn right after crossing the street. The Institute is one building down on your left.

Biking from Harvard Campus:
