At the Rowland, the Kane Lab sought to understand how brains convert sensory inputs into behavioral outputs at a neural circuit level using interdisciplinary techniques from biophysics, genetics, and neuroscience. The lab utilized the innate light avoidance behavior of the fruit fly larva as a model system.
