Leigh received her BA in biology from Wesleyan University where she was an avid photographer and squash player. After becoming obsessed with brain plasticity in the somatosensory system, she earned her PhD in molecular and cellular neuroscience from Brown University where she studied synaptic glutamatergic receptors and protein-protein interactions. At UC Davis, as a postdoctoral fellow, Leigh investigated the role of immune molecules in synapse formation and synapse elimination of the developing visual cortex.

At Harvard, Leigh managed and performed research in an HHMI neuroscience laboratory in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Department. Leigh became the Director of Science Operations at the Harvard School of Engineering during which she designed and organized all-things scientific for in both Cambridge and the expansion of the School of Engineering into Allston.

Leigh has been at the Rowland Institute since 2021. She delights in working with the Rowland’s amazing researchers and staff in creating a fabulous environment that enables the best scientific research and programming possible!
