As the Technical Manager for the Machine and Model shop, I work closely with the Rowland Fellows to design creative scientific tooling and apparatus. Using consultative methods, together we build unique solutions to complex issues to allow the Rowland scientists to achieve their goals. I am a current race car engineer (in my spare time), former racing driver and motorcycle racer, and have many hours of design and use of ultra high performance motorsport equipment. I love teaching my Fellows (and their interns), the skills they need to work with design and fabrication companies. It is also a wonderful feeling to design a new tool (or series of tools) to “boldly go, where no Scientist has gone before”!
